This is an overdue entry for a wonderful week’s workshop of seascape photography run in November by Len Metcalf using Narooma as a base.

We were up early every morning for sunrise and out quite late each evening for sunset at different beaches around Narooma – no mean feat at that time of the year with day light saving – but worth it I think!

It was interesting to see how the photography of the group members evolved over the week and the ways in which different people viewed the same locale as reflected in their photos. Mine tended to the minimalist – a genre which I have decided I like and might pursue.

Late evening, Mystery Bay

I like the simplicity of the images with their pastel colours, horizontal lines and suggestion of what lies beyond. I found Len’s instruction, particularly in composition and techniques such as long exposures, and the class critiquing sessions, really motivating.
