Portugal – Porto

A quick visit to Porto – very crowded with thousands of tourists (rather than travellers like ourselves!!) who made our walk in the Ribeira area slightly uncomfortable until we slipped down a side street for some handbag shopping and a coffee and portuguese tart (delicious!) though we left the famous tawny port!

My eye was taken by this motor scooter which from a distance look like it was covered in a mosaic – which in a sense it was – thousands of buttons! It was strategically parked outside, wait for it, a button shop!

Back on the ship we could see that the fishing fleet seemed to be all in port and wondered why none had gone out for the day – then as our ship rounded the end of the breakwater on its way out to sea, we realised why!  Another night of motion on the ocean fro us too…
